No. 2 Oregon and Boise State delivered another competitive meeting at Autzen Stadium on Saturday, with the Ducks overcoming an early deficit and taking a 34-27 lead in the fourth quarter.
Boise State struck first, using a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Maddux Madsen to Carson Bates to cap an opening 75-yard drive. Oregon answered in the second quarter when running back Jordon Davison scored on a 1-yard run.
The Broncos responded quickly. Madsen connected with Sire Gaines for a 38-yard touchdown, and kicker Jonah Dalmas added to Boise State’s advantage with a 29-yard field goal.
Oregon then began to find more consistency through the air. Quarterback Dante Moore connected with tight end Jamari Johnson on a 27-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, cutting Boise State’s lead to 17-14 at halftime.
The Ducks carried that momentum into the second half. Gabriel Hurych tied the game with a 26-yard field goal before Moore led an 87-yard scoring drive that ended with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah McClellan.
Boise State answered again. Madsen found Matt Wagner for a 7-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, bringing the Broncos level at 24-24.
Oregon regained the lead early in the fourth quarter when Hurych converted a 44-yard field goal. Boise State’s Cameron McLemore then tied the game with a 36-yard field goal with 8:45 remaining.
The Ducks responded almost immediately. Moore connected with Dakorien Moore on a 62-yard touchdown pass, putting Oregon ahead 34-27.
Dante Moore leads Oregon’s passing attack
Moore has been one of the central figures in Oregon’s offensive performance.
The Oregon quarterback has thrown for 388 yards, according to Oregon’s official game statistics. Maddux Madsen has recorded 181 passing yards for Boise State.
Oregon has also generated 507 total yards compared with 274 for Boise State, according to the Ducks’ official game center. The Ducks have produced 388 passing yards and 119 rushing yards.
Jordon Davison has led Oregon’s rushing attack with 90 yards, while Boise State’s Dylan Riley has 50 rushing yards.
Jeremiah McClellan has also been an important part of Oregon’s passing game. FOX Sports lists him with six receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown, while its game statistics list Dante Moore at 302 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Because the available live statistical feeds are not completely synchronized, the final player-stat totals should be checked against the official postgame box score before publication.
Boise State keeps the game within reach
The Broncos have repeatedly answered Oregon’s scoring drives, preventing the heavily favored Ducks from turning the matchup into a runaway.
Madsen has thrown three touchdown passes in the game, according to FOX Sports. Sire Gaines has also contributed a receiving touchdown and 82 total yards in that statistical feed.
The result is another competitive chapter between the programs. Oregon entered the game with a 1-3 all-time record against Boise State, according to the Ducks’ official opponent history, although Oregon won their most recent meeting 37-34 in 2024.
Charles Davis joins CBS broadcast
The matchup is being televised by CBS, with Brad Nessler handling play-by-play and Charles Davis serving as the analyst, according to Oregon’s official game notes.
Davis was also part of the pregame coverage surrounding the matchup, discussing how Boise State could challenge the No. 2 Ducks.
Oregon’s next scheduled game is at Oklahoma State on Sept. 12, while Boise State is scheduled to host Memphis on the same date.
The significance of Saturday’s result will ultimately depend on the confirmed final score and how both teams perform over the rest of the season. For now, the matchup has provided an early test for an Oregon team entering the season ranked No. 2 nationally and a Boise State team looking to compete against one of college football’s highest-ranked programs.
